50/50 Ball: Sporting KC – LA Galaxy 07Apr12

Sporting KC came into this having won their first four games and in convincing fashion. The big gripe was that they hadn't played anybody good, so who better to challenge a top team then last years MLS cup champions in the LA Galaxy. Granted the Galaxy haven't been off to a very good start having won only one game in their first four games, but they are the Galaxy and cannot be taken lightly... or can they? David Beckham didn't even make the trip after what seemed like a falling out with the coach who used the excuse "we don't think David is where he should be right now." Well duh he was back in LA when you and your team was in KC, but I digress.
SPORTING KC
- Came out looking to continue their dominance of play and did just that. They only scored one goal, but had several chances which you would have to thank LA's goalkeeper for keeping his team in the game because it sure wasn't the defense. Unlike our defense who had some perfect tackles and kept the Galaxy from even getting a shot on target.
- Didn't really having anything that stood out as bad for Sporting in this game as they played a really good game, but they really need to try and focus on finishing off a few more goals to ensure that they can keep victories like this. It happened too many times last season where they were ahead and the other team was able to battle back and tie it up or worse pull out the victory.
LA GALAXY
- Continue to have problems all over the field and if it continues then everybody will start looking at the Head Coach more as to what the hell is going on, but honestly I don't even think he has any idea how this all got screwed up from what he had last year.
- The goalkeeper single, or I should say with both hands, kept LA in this game up to the very end. Sporting was able to score in the 44th minute which a lot of people saw coming but that was the only goal that any of the Sporting players were able to sneak by LA's goalkeeper. Who is a very good goalkeeper, but can see him ready to jump the shark by the end of the season if play from the rest of the team will continue like this.
