Good, Bad, and Ugly: Comets – Wave

I am a little behind on being able to start on my blog post for the Missouri Comets, but I was finally able to sit down and watch a game recently. Most notably a game against last years MISL Champions in the Milwaukee Wave. I wanted to make sure that I started doing this because I am wanting to look at changing my review blog post up a bit from the Two and Two style that I had been doing for the Sporting Kansas City games to what I am going to start calling "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly." No I won't be doing 3 items for each team like I was doing one good item and one bad item for each team in the Two and Two post, but just simply something good, something bad, and something that I thought was ugly. Without further delay here in my Good, Bad, and Ugly for the Wave's 24-18 Victory over the Comets.
GOOD
The Wave simply in the first three quarters looked like they were in what should probably be championship form from last year. So much so that at one point the Wave had if I can recall correctly at least a 14 point lead. That is something that you can easily see a championship caliber team putting up against bad teams. Even at a recreational level I've seen score differentials of 14 points. Granted this wasn't a rec game and the scoring is a lot different having a 1 point, 2 point, and 3 point area.
BAD
Just like the Wave were so good in the first three quarters, yes indoor goes by quarters, the Wave failed to continue their dominating play in the fourth quarter and just about allowed the Comets to come back in the game. I had mentioned a 14 point difference before, a difference that the Comets were able to get down to just 6 points which during an indoor game can be made up in literally less then a minute. Luckily for the Wave they were able to hold on just log enough to pull out the victory. But had the Wave not been able to get such a lead the end result of this game could of been completely different.
UGLY
The Comets defense in the first 3 quarters were completely lacking and were caught ball watching on far too many occasions. Especially for a team that has had such a stellar defense all season so far and not allowing small mistakes like watching the ball happen often, but not in this game. I guess teams are allowed to have bad nights, but hopefully the Comets can move on from this and become that much better. Shouldn't be too hard since the defense seemed to lock it up late in the third quarter and all of the fourth quarter to at least give their team a chance to come back and possibly win the game, but again came up just short of pulling it off.
